Bad Market: Burna Boy taken off MTN’s “Ghana Meet Naija” show due to Glo deal

Fast rising singer Burna Boy was among the shortlisted artistes to perform at the recently concluded Ghana Meets Naija concert which went down last night in Accra, Ghana.
However, the “Like to Party” singer was taken off the list the performing acts at the last minute because of his deal with Glo.
Burna Boy was scheduled for the show before his multi-million naira endorsement deal with Glo.

Brymo Blasts Chocolate City

In a recent interview, former member of the Chocolate City crew opened up about his reasons for leaving the label and what his plans are.

Excerpts.

On why he left the label.

My debut album was not released properly. Songs were leaked even after they promised that they were safe. And then there was my single, which was poorly released. I think I deserve an explanation why the release was messed up. That already is a breach. You took my song, edited it and released it behind my back; very unfair. It’s something I don’t want to talk about but there’s news everywhere that I am smoking weed and people are saying I don’t get shows because of that.

On weed-smoking.

Yes, but for God’s sake, I have not done anything to mess up the contract. What else do you think anybody would say just to make me look bad? It’s like giving a dog a bad name so you can hang it. They needed to come up with something. Like I said before, a lot of artistes are doing songs about weed and I have not even done a song on weed before.

On how Choc Boys affected his project.

We were supposed to record a Choc Boy album in 2012, which I could not agree to because I had my own album in the works. But it’s even worse than that because nobody ever called me up. Whenever they had Choc Boy meetings I was never there. I heard stuff from my other mates on the record label and I am like ‘when did you have that meeting?’ So, it’s easy now for them to come out and say I am still a Choc Boy. However, I was never treated like one!

On his new plans.

Chocolate City says I can’t go anywhere but they will have to sue me to enforce that and we will meet in court.

On who his new management will be.

This is music business. By the time you shop for a few weeks, you’ll find a manager and a publicist. The songs always come first so if I don’t have an album in the works, what do I need a manager and publicist for.

On his current relationship with Choc City crew.

We have a very cordial relationship, funny enough. We talk on phone and we even exchange visits. When I got my new car four months ago, I drove to MI’s place and said ‘come take a look at my car.’ When we meet at events we still talk.

On his personal relationship.

Yes, I am in a relationship. But no plans for marriage right now. I met the lady in my life at a birthday party. What struck me about her was that she was tall and beautiful. The attraction was her height. Who no go like fine girl? I like the way she carries herself and the way she treats me.

On marriage plans.

(Laughs) I am 27-years-old so I am still thinking of roaming around a little bit more before settling down.

Tonto Dikeh Facing 15-Year Prison Sentence Following Marijuana Pictures

You should learn to watch what you put up on social media, especially when you’re a celebrity.
Tonto Dikeh might be in a lot of trouble after officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stated that she could face up to 15 years in jail for taking pictures of banned substances and encouraging their consumption.
Dikeh had on Friday posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and grains of the weed formed into the letters, ‘Happy birthday POKO.’
She also posted a photograph of herself and added the inscription, ‘Mi smoke ganja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip.’
Her picture is a close-up of her face that seemed to depict her in a high state.
When Saturday PUNCH contacted NDLEA for comments, its spokesman, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the matter would be investigated.
He said the matter had been referred to the appropriate department of the agency.
Ofoyeju said, “Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The weed is one of the banned narcotics in the country.
“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.
“Investigation has not started as of now but definitely, a step has to be taken on the matter. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse; so, it is obvious that the actress stands the risk of 15 years jail term. The appropriate department is meeting on the issue for necessary action.”
The NDLEA spokesman, however, declined to give any hint on particular steps the agency would take in its investigation, citing reasons bearing on ethics.
Dikeh’s post has expectedly drawn mixed reactions from readers, with many of them voicing concern for the way she is living her life.

The Maybach Music boss owes Johnny’s Custom Jewelry almost $90,000 after he ordered three diamond-studded Rolexes almost a year ago, but has not yet paid for them.
The lawsuit alleges that the pieces were delivered but never paid for, asking for $89,847.50 plus interest to settle the tab. TMZ has obtained a copy of the receipt, which shows two Rolexes made of 18-carat gold (one with 30 carats of diamonds, the other with seven), and a third two-tone watch with five carats of diamonds. They cost $55,000, $14,000, and $14,000, respectively.

A recent update has revealed that Nigerian Billionaire, Mike Adenuga has spent a whooping N200 Million for a burial site.
The burial site, which is located at Vaults and Garden, an ultra modern cemetery in Ikoyi, Lagos is now final resting place of the rich and affluent.
According to reports, to get an average space in the cemetery would cost about N750, 000 and above. But if you would rather live an even more affluent life after death, N40 Million would get you some of the executive spots.
Report has it that even the super-rich have their own corner. Adenuga’s recently deceased sister had one of these to herself. The Globacom boss paid N200 Million to secure a space for his sister. Her next door neighbor in this exclusive section is Gboyega, son of another super rich man, Otunba Adekunle Ojora and his fashionable wife, Ojuolape. Gbegi, like he was popularly known, was born in 1960 and died in 2011.

Right next to him is one of the founders of GT Bank, Tayo Aderinokun. His final resting place is not only very wondrously decorated, but also boasts of his two giant photographs, smiling on those that are still living. We were informed that before the trio, however, is that of a true man of God, like it is dubbed inside the cemetery – the final resting place of former Redeemed Christian Church of God minister, Pastor Eskor Mfon. Born in 1953, he died in 2007.
It is quite wondrous that these rich are spending so much amount of money to get a posh burial ground, but wouldn’t the money be better served on the living, perhaps, donated to a charity?

We cant say all the celebrities are not trying to do their part to save OJB as the Okoye brothers, Peter, Paul (P-Square) & Jude have donated N5 million to help save OJB. They personally delivered the check to OJB when they went to visit him at his home in Surulere, Lagos.
Joy Tongo, the group’s agent in the US also confirmed the story via her social media page.


In addition, Iyanya & his manager Ubi Franklin donated 1 million to help the ailing producer.

JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL PUPILS CAUGHT DONATING BLOOD FOR N1500 IN LAGOS

About nine junior secondary school students were on Tuesday, caught donating blood illegally to one Mr. Sola in Agege area of Lagos.
It was learnt that members of the community noticed the unusual visit of some students to a certain shop located on Owoloabi Omotoye street, Orile Agege, during and after school hours which prompted a little investigation.
The investigations revealed that the students had been donating their blood for money.
One of the students nabbed at the shop and simply identified as Emeka, a JSS2 pupil, confessed to donating his blood thrice for the sum of N1, 500 on each occasion with Sola asking them “not to tell anyone about it.”

Some of the students, who were from Oke Odo High School; State Senior High School,Oyewole; State Junior High School, Oyewole; State High School, Mulero; Keke High school, Agege, it was further gathered, had donated their blood up to 17 times .
Confirming the incident, chairman of the Parent-Teachers’ Association (PTA) State Junior High School, Mr. Adeyemi, said some of the students, who became very sick as a result of the repeated blood donation, had been taken to the hospital while the rest had been released to their parents.
Mr. Adeyemi added that beside those caught in the act, several other students later confessed to have donated their blood at one point or the other saying that the case had been reported to the education district 1 for further action.

BBA The Chase: ELIKEM AND POKELLO FIGHT

Elikem and PokelloPokello stormed off in a huff following an hour long fight with Elikem.
Following two weeks of flirting and being generally "as thick as thieves" Pokello and Elikem got into a heated spat on Wednesday evening.
Elikem told Pokello "You act like you care about others but in truth all you care about is yourself. You're being judgmental”, amongst many other loaded statements.

An upset Elikem stayed rooted to the spot and didn't want to talk to anyone. After a while, he found Pokello, who was seething, in the garden and tried to explain himself.

Reports came over the weekend that Stella Damascus and her husband Daniel Ademinokan were expecting a baby, Stella denied being pregnant.

ISN'T CHRIS BROWN TIRED OF ASSAULTING WOMEN????

Singer Chris Brown was accused in assaulting a 24-year-old woman on Saturday after his show in an Orange County nightclub.
The woman, Deanna Gines, says as the nightclub, Heat Ultra Lounge, was closing, Brown reportedly knocked her to the ground, badly injuring her knee. According to Gines, doctors have told her there are torn ligaments in her knee and that she may need to have an operation.
Though nothing has yet been substantiated, Brown has had a string of assault accusations and unfortunate club encounters which don't help the singer's situation.
In January, Brown, 24, had an altercation with Frank Ocean which has yet to be put to rest completely. In March, Brown and his crew were reportedly involved in abottle-smashing brawl with Drake and his crew. Not to mention the most obvious, hisnow infamous 2009 incident with singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Chris Brown's representative has yet to respond to the allegations.

He also reveals that the doctors are telling him he has a maximum of 8 weeks left on planet earth.

What is the state of your health?
The state where we are is the state we actually need a transplant. When early diagnosis was done it was just a case of Renal Infection. Right now, the two kidneys are gone,but we a running dialysis at the moment. When did you observe that you have this illness? It was two years ago, but it was not depreciated to this level.
Then it was a gradual process. It was just like a doctor’s prescription to control your blood pressure level. we did all that , but having off and on experience until it got to this stage. What would you attribute to this ailment? Most time people tend to attribute kidney problem to drunkenness or smoking.
I was told that it doesn’t have anything to do with that, because as much asI drink and smoke then, it was casual drinking. maybe, they offer you a bottle of drink and all that, not that i have to drink 15 bottles or drink all through the day.
How much do you need for a transplant?
For transplant itself, it varies, because the procedure is $25000. The whole process of the treatment from pre-process, transplanting and post-transplanting will cost about $100,000. In two years I have spent up to five million which I have been trying to maintain myself, that is why it has been kept secret.
When are you going for the transplant?
God willing, I have like 8 to 10 weeks more to get it done. It’s strange, i still walk around a little. I can’t eat much again, N20 rice is even enough. I trust God and Nigerians for their financial assistance.

IKECHUKWU, WIZKID, 2FACE, DURELLA DISS DBANJ DKM CONCERT

Victoria Island, Lagos, glowed bright-red last night Sunday June 23rd as D’banj hosted thousands of fans to his much talked about DKM Concert which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
The concert served as the launch of his DB Records debut compilation album ‘D’ King’s Men‘ and saw performances from D’banj, Kay Switch, rappers Olamide, Naeto C, Phyno and Pop artiste KCEE. Other performers included DJ Zeez and upcomers Sean Tizzle, Omo Akin, Ace and Pepsol.

However, 2face, Wizkid, Ikechukwu, Durella and DB Records JSol didn’t grace the stage despite earlier announcements of their performance at the concert.
Wizkid was sighted at the event but didn’t get on stage. 2face we gather is in Houston US for a performance at Industry Nite. Ikechukwu, Durella and J Sol cannot be accounted for.
The concert climaxed with performances from international acts – US rapper 2 Chainz, Congolese sexy singer Fally Ipupa, and South African musical group Mafikizolo.
The show was hosted by The Beat FM’s Toolz and comedian AY with an earlier backstage voice over from Illryhmz.

MANDELA'S CONDITION STILL CRITICAL

Nelson Mandela’s close family gathered on Tuesday at his rural homestead to discuss the failing health of the South African anti-apartheid icon who was fighting for his life in hospital.
Messages of support poured in from around the world for the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who spent 27 years behind bars for his struggle under white minority rule and went on to become South Africa’s first black president.
Mandela remained unchanged in critical condition Tuesday, the South African presidency said.
“We must keep him in our prayers and leave the rest to the Almighty to decide on,” Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe said.
Family members, including one of Mandela’s daughters and at least two grandchildren, were seen gathering for a meeting in the village of Qunu, where the charismatic former leader spent his childhood tending cattle and living in mud-walled huts.
The meeting was called “to discuss delicate matters”, according to South Africa’s Sapa news agency, amid speculation that the location of his possible gravesite was on the agenda.
The 94-year-old’s condition appeared to take a significant turn for the worse over the weekend with the presidency announcing on Sunday that he was “critical”.
Flowers and messages of support piled up outside the Pretoria hospital where Mandela was admitted on June 8 with a recurring lung problem dating back to his time at the windswept Robben Island prison camp near Cape Town.
“He is a man who changed the world,” said Vusi Mzimanda, who was among the well-wishers.

“He brings hope to everyone,” he said. “I just hope that he will get better and come to us. We don’t want to lose him even though we know it’s late.”
Supporters also released 100 white doves into the air outside the hospital.
“It symbolises that fact the we need to have love as South Africans, we need to have peace in South Africa,” said dove breeder Thomas Toutts.
Relatives have been gathering at Mandela’s bedside each day as doctors battle to save the moral icon, who was once considered a terrorist by the United States and Britain for his support of violence against the apartheid regime.
Ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela — herself a figurehead of the anti-apartheid struggle — visited the hospital on Monday along with daughters Zindzi Mandela-Motlhajwa and Zenani Mandela-Dlamini and scores of officials.
President Jacob Zuma called on South Africans to respect the Mandela family’s “dignity and privacy”.
“We must demonstrate our love and appreciation for his leadership during the struggle for liberation and in our first few years of freedom and democracy by living out his legacy and promoting unity, non-racialism, non-sexism and prosperity in our country,” Zuma said in a statement.
Mandela — who is due to celebrate his 95th birthday on July 18 — has been hospitalised four times since December, and South Africans have been coming to terms with his increasing frailty.
In Soweto, the township where Mandela lived for more than a decade, James Nhlapo said South Africa must accept Mandela will not live forever.
“There will soon come a time when all the medical help won’t work. We have to face that sad reality now,” he said as he served customers in his grocery store.
